There are a wide array of classes for players to choose from in Solasta: Crown of the Magister. This guide shows how to play as a Wizard.
When designing a character in Solasta: Crown of the Magister players will be able to choose between many different things like separate races, classes, backgrounds, and even appearance. Every choice matters and will allow the player to make a character exactly the way that they want it to be. Luckily for fans of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, all of these options should be very familiar as the game directly adapts the majority of them.

One of the oldest and most beloved classes in the world of tabletop is the Wizard, and Solasta: Crown of the Magister gives players many reasons to check the class out. Wizards are the standard magic-user and are more adept in magical ability than any other class in the game. Since they have access to the widest selection of spells this also means that Wizards are the most versatile when it comes to magic as well. This guide shows players how to play as a Wizard and the best build.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister – How to Create a Wizard

Wizards are by far the strongest magical class in Solasta, but in order to get the best use out of them, players will need to know how to properly create the class first. A few things to keep in mind about Wizards though is that while they are very strong magically they tend to be weak physically. This means that melee attacks will usually fall flat and the Wizard will typically take a lot of damage if they try to face an enemy head-on. Before engaging in combat the player will first want to construct their wizard by investing ability points properly.

The most important ability score for a Wizard is intelligence because it will directly influence a wizard’s magical ability. The goal is to increase this score as high as it can possibly go to make sure that the wizard is able to sling powerful spells. The Wizard’s spellcasting modifier will be their proficiency bonus plus their intelligence modifier. Once the player has done that they will want to choose a secondary skill to boost, and the best choice is dexterity. Since Wizards rarely wear armor, dexterity will determine the character’s AC. Player should put this ability right under their intelligence.

From here the player can lay out their other stats pretty easily. Constitution should definitely be the third stat and should be kept around 14 to grant the Wizard a decent number of hit points early on in the game. The player then runs into the issue with charisma and wisdom as both can be pretty important stats for a Wizard. At the end of the day, the player should decide what hole their Wizard will fill in the party and then give the higher score to the stat that helps with that goal. The other ability should then be put at 10 so that it doesn’t negatively affect the Wizard. The final thing to do is to then dump strength entirely because it is basically worthless for a Wizard.

The only other thing that players will need to decide when it comes to ability scores is what race they wish to play as. There are several decent options that the player could select to give themselves boosts in different areas, but without a doubt the best choice is Half-Elf. This automatically grants a +1 to intelligence which trumps all other choices.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister – Best Skills for Wizard

Once the player has chosen the correct abilities and race for their Wizard they will then need to start looking at skills. When it comes to deciding on a skill the player should select skills that their Wizard will be good at in order to greatly increase their success rates. They can then specifically use their Wizard for those skills to ensure that their party succeeds more often. The trick is to always play to a character’s inherent skills. Here are the best skills to choose as a Wizard:

Arcana – This is an intelligence-based skill that is always useful for a Wizard. This will essentially allow the player to explore the world around them more effectively by searching for magical clues and determine the best way forward in certain situations.Investigation – This is another Intelligence skill that lets a Wizard examine the world, but this time for non-magical purposes.Acrobatics – With such an impressive dexterity skill it only makes sense to invest in this one. It allows the player traverse tricky situations more effectively.Solasta: Crown of the Magister – Best Wizard Build

Creating a strong Wizard build can be a lot of fun since the class is so versatile and has access to so many interesting spells. One of the best ways to build a Wizard is by making it into a Shock Arcanist Wizard. By choosing the Shock Arcanist Arcane Tradition players are able to make many of their spells more powerful than before and deal much more damage to enemies. The player will need to make a few adjustments to the standard build though.

The first thing that they will want to do is not dump their strength stat and instead put it at least at 10. They should then push dexterity down to 14 and bump constitution up to 16 instead. This may seem a little crazy, but this is because the player is going to then equip the Sellsword background which will grant the Wizard medium armor proficiency. They can then wear medium armor and have a higher AC than they typically would be able to with a straight dexterity build.

Once the player acquires the Shock Arcanist Tradition they will be able to then use any of spells from the War class as one spell level higher. All of these spells are damage-based, so this will essentially greatly increase the damage capabilities of each of these spells. Some of the best ones from this list to have in a player’s arsenal are Scorching Ray, Flaming Sphere, and Fireball. The player will also be able to acquire other spells to help them in numerous different ways throughout the game.

As the player levels up they will also acquire two other feats with this tradition: Arcane Fury and Arcane Shock. Arcane Fury will actually grant the player the ability to add their spellcasting modifier on top of any damage rolls for evocation spells for a minute. If the player has built their character correctly this can greatly increase how much damage can be dealt to an enemy. Arcane Shock however will allow the player to deal consistently higher damage every roll, but every time they attack they must also make a Constitution saving throw to avoid taking psychic damage. Pump up the constitution stat to help avoid this.

Here are a few other tips to make this build the best possible:
